Interview

What do you like about working at Barton Mills?

I instantly felt at home with Barton Mills. It is a close knit team of dedicated professionals that love what they do and that are super passionate about the recruitment industry. When meeting the team, I was impressed by their dedication and loyalty to both clients and candidates. Their energy, enthusiasm and caring nature is very contagious, I instantly knew I wanted to be a part of the team!

We like to work hard but also have a lot of fun at the same time. It has been a tough year for recruitment and now is the perfect opportunity to help the industry get back on its feet, rebuild and grow again. Barton Mills has been around for over 16 years and has built a fantastic reputation over that time with agencies and candidates. I feel very lucky to have joined a company that genuinely puts its candidates and clients first.

What do you enjoy about working in rec 2 rec?

I have travelled a lot over the years and love meeting people from all walks of life. I made the move into recruitment a couple of years ago, and instantly fell in love with the industry. I have always enjoyed helping people from a very young age and recruitment provides me with great job satisfaction. Every day I get the opportunity to help enhance someone’s career and life.

It is no lie that recruitment can be a rollercoaster at times. It can be mentally challenging with several highs and lows in one day, over time this can really affect our mental health and job satisfaction. If you throw a pandemic in the mix, you can really have a recipe for burn out! Working in Rec2Rec you get the opportunity to give back to an industry and help people that are still yet to find the right path, business, or sector they are happiest in. You really can change someone’s life.

If you could give your candidates one tip, what would it be?

You spend a lot of your life at work, so make sure you pick the right industry and business. Take your time and don’t rush! Explore all your options, get expert advice and industry insights from a rec2rec. Also, a second tip if I may… The more we know about you, the more we can help you find what you want! Don’t hold back on letting us know exactly what you are looking for…

What did you do before you worked at Barton Mills?

When I left school, I had no idea what I wanted to do and somehow decided it was a good idea to become an electrician. I later discovered my love for people and traveling, which made me pack up my life in the UK and go traveling around the world. Through traveling to many countries and exploring different cultures, I realised my passion for meeting and helping new people. I wanted to combine my interest of sales and travel so spent a lot of my career in the travel industry.

After deciding it was time to make some roots in Australia, I stumbled upon the world of recruitment. I now honestly cannot see myself in any other industry and generally love my job! Recruitment has given me the opportunity to really make a future for myself and at the same time help so many other people. It’s very rewarding!

What do you like to do when you aren’t recruiting?

I like to keep fit at the gym, martial arts, read books and take my dog for long walks. I spend most of my weekends camping and at the beach.

If you could be any other occupation in another life, what would you be?

Hmm… world-famous DJ!! Getting flown around the world first class and going to all the world’s best parties while getting paid.
